Fantasy World Manager Demo Crash on Startup: What to Try
The demo can stall on the Godot splash screen with a .NET symbol error. Here's what one player's log shows and which fixes the developer has suggested.

Table of Contents
A demo build of Fantasy World Manager has been reported to close immediately after the Godot splash screen. In a Steam Community post dated 18 October 2026, player Ratin 05 describes exactly that: the Godot screen appears, then the game crashes. Their log ends with:
ERROR: Can't resolve symbol godotsharp_game_main_init, error: "Error 127: The specified procedure could not be found."
The log also shows the demo running Godot 4.7 (mono custom build) with the Forward+ renderer over Vulkan on an AMD Radeon RX550. The player says they tried both renderers and the crash was identical each time.
The developer's patch notes don't cover that specific symbol error, so there is no published one-click fix. What follows is the short list of things the game's own update history and community reporting actually support, plus how to pass the log on if none of it helps.
What the log is telling you
The failing name is godotsharp_game_main_init, and the build string is a mono build — so the missing piece sits in the demo's .NET side, not in the renderer or the GPU driver. Error 127 is Windows reporting that a procedure couldn't be found in a library it tried to load.
That reading fits the player's own result: switching renderers changed nothing, because the crash happens before rendering is the issue. It also means renderer tweaks are a quick thing to rule out rather than a likely cure for this particular message.

The cheapest check: the other renderer
The demo ships with two renderers. Patch notes from 10 June 2026 refer to them as "Launch Option 1 & 2", and later notes mention a Compatibility renderer alongside Forward+. The reporter's log shows the Forward+ path.
If your crash looks like theirs, launch the demo on the option you haven't tried yet. It didn't help that player, but it is the first branch to eliminate, and the June patches did include renderer-specific stability work.
Reset the demo's settings file
The Demo Patch 3 notes (9 June 2026) include an instruction for players whose game wouldn't launch in full screen and whose buttons broke: delete settings.cfg from the Fantasy World Manager folder under %appdata%, if the problem doesn't clear up on its own.
That note was written for a full-screen launch bug, not for the Godot-splash crash, so treat it as a free reset of display and launch settings rather than a documented cure. It costs nothing to try, and the demo rebuilds the file on next start.

Rule out machine-level causes
These are ordinary Windows troubleshooting steps, not features the demo documents:
- Confirm the basics from the Steam store page: 64-bit Windows 10, a 2.0 GHz processor, 2 GB RAM, 128 MB video memory with Shader Model 2.0+, DirectX 9, 1000 MB of storage.
- Repair your .NET runtime. Because the failing symbol is a .NET one, a damaged or missing runtime is a plausible contributor. Nothing in the material says the demo needs a separate .NET install, so treat a repair as a general experiment, not a known fix.
- Update the GPU driver and verify the demo's files through Steam, so a partial download isn't mistaken for a crash cause.
Keep the demo updated
The demo was patched repeatedly during and after Steam Next Fest: Patch 3 on 9 June, Patch 4 on 11 June, Patch 5 on 15 June, Patch 6 on 18 June and Patch 7 on 20 July 2026. Several notes are directly about this area — Patch 5 added "More Debug Logs for Crash issues" and a "Possible fix for Crash Issues (Experimental)", and the 10 June bugfix patch added crash logging and reworked the loading system for both renderers.
If you're on an older demo build, update first; a crash you're hitting may already have been worked on. If you're on the newest build and still crash at the splash, you're in the same position as the October report.
If nothing works, report it
The log is the useful part. The developer has repeatedly said the demo period was run on player bug reports and reviews, and points players to the Discord community for direct feedback. Post your symptoms and the full log to the Steam Community hub for Fantasy World Manager so the failure can be matched against other reports.
Two details worth including, because they made the October report readable: which renderer you launched with, and the exact ERROR: line rather than just "it crashes".
FAQ
Why does the Fantasy World Manager demo crash on startup?
In the one detailed public report, the demo crashes right after the Godot splash with a missing .NET symbol error (godotsharp_game_main_init, error 127). That is a startup crash in the demo's .NET layer, not a graphics crash.
I only see the Godot logo and then the game disappears — is that the same problem?
That matches the reported behaviour: the Godot screen appears, then the game closes immediately. Check your log for the same symbol error before assuming it is identical.
Does switching renderers fix the demo startup crash?
Not for the player who reported it — both renderers crashed the same way. It is still worth trying, since it takes a minute and earlier demo patches did fix renderer-specific issues.
Will updating the demo break my saves?
Patch 7 (20 July 2026) added save-file version formats and corruption protection. Per the patch notes, even if an update breaks a save, the original file isn't corrupted and works again after a bugfix patch.
